Cape Verde and The Ocean Race Strengthen Their Commitment to Ocean Rights

In an exciting development, Cape Verde and The Ocean Race officially inked a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday, the 18th of the month, amidst the bustling cityscape of New York.

This momentous occasion signifies a shared dedication to championing Ocean Rights, nurturing the blue economy, and showcasing Cape Verde's allure as a haven for water sports and ecotourism enthusiasts.

This landmark document serves as the foundation for a strategic partnership between Cape Verde and The Ocean Race, with a resolute mission to bolster Ocean Rights advocacy and invigorate the nation's blue economy.

Moreover, it serves as a beacon, spotlighting Cape Verde's scenic beauty as an enchanting destination for water sports aficionados and nature-loving ecotourists.

What's particularly noteworthy about this accord is the inclusion of Mindelo, nestled on the picturesque São Vicente island, as one of the designated destinations for The Ocean Race's forthcoming edition, scheduled for the year 2026/2027.

The decision to include Mindelo as a host city is a testament to its burgeoning reputation as a world-class water sports hub and further solidifies Cape Verde's place on the global stage.

It's worth recalling that in a landmark event this past January, Mindelo and Cape Verde welcomed a leg of the world-renowned race for the very first time. This historic milestone not only thrust the archipelago into the international limelight but also garnered widespread attention in the specialized water sports media, cementing Cape Verde's status as a rising star in the world of aquatic adventure.
